January 2013 - New Road Tire Class for Iowa Region - In 2012 the SCCA created 3 provisional classes, RTA, RTF, and RTR for stock cars with all, front, or rear wheel drive running on road tires. Cars in those categories are compared to each other using their current PAX multipliers. At Pro Solo events these cars are compared to cars in all other classes after multiplying their PAX times by 0.975 to compensate for not having DOT legal slicks. Correspondingly, the Iowa Region board of directors has created a new class, RT, that will comprise all stock cars on road tires. These cars will be compared to each other for class ranking using the appropriate stock PAX multipliers. Also the 0.975 multiplier will be applied to these PAX times when generating the overall PAX rankings for each event and the overall PAX standings for the year. This should allow drivers of stock cars with road tires to better compare their skills and to compete with drivers of more fully prepared cars.
